Saturday night December 12th was the Baldwin Park Festival of Lights which included a Parade and many other activities. Due to rain in the area last Saturday many floats and marchers came from other nearby communities to march in the Baldwin Park, Orlando Parade.
The Baldwin Park Story Documentary will explore various aspects of the development and current status of Baldwin Park in Orlando Florida as well as look at other aspects of New Urbanism and Planned Communities.

Construction Town Homes Baldwin Park
Mattamy Homes has broken ground for the first phase of construction on Meeting Place in Baldwin Park. The town homes will include models and units for sale. The homes are located near the down town area of Baldwin Park.
The Baldwin Park Story Documentary plans to shoot various phase of the construction process as part of the ongoing story and interview home buyers about why they’ve decided to move to Baldwin Park.
In addition the documentary will examine the concepts of Planned Communities and New Urbanism as they apply to Baldwin Park and other neighborhoods and communities in other locations.

The Baldwin Park Story Documentary production plans to interview a number of current Baldwin Park Residents, Shop Owners others as part of the ongoing documentary effort. A number of future events in the area will also be documented.
Additional interviews with experts in the areas of Urban Planning, New Urbanism, Green Communities and Planned Communities.

It’s not difficult to come up with an idea for a documentary project. There are non-fiction stories around us all the time. Taking that idea and deciding how or if you want to tell the story takes some effort. There are a number of questions to ask yourself. For example is this a story worth telling, will anyone be interested in the subject? This doesn’t preclude working on a project to inform others of an issue or topic that needs to looked at. We’re talking about how broad the subject or idea is and what the best way to document it might be. (more…)

Chicago
One of the things we plan to look at in The Baldwin Park Story is the similarities and/or differences between a planned community built in an urban environment and a traditional city neighborhood. In many cities people are moving back to the neighborhoods their families reluctantly left years ago. Most neighborhoods were comfortable places to live for any number of reasons. Planned Communities offer many of the same amenities as neighborhoods did, like being able to walk to stores, and children walking to school. (more…)

Shooting in Baldwin Park
After some interviews with individuals associated with the development of Baldwin Park in Orlando, Florida shooting began in and around the downtown area and along Lake Baldwin. The notion was to get some footage that would complement the interviews and give us a feel for what this “planned community” looked like. (more…)
